Assignment: Packaging Design
This assignment was about to create a logo and design a coffee bag, coffee sleeve and coffee holder. I started this individual assignment during my college on session May 2018.
First step: Logo
I choose Colmar Tropicale in Bukit Tinggi as a topic for logo because it was iconic tourist attraction on Bukit Tinggi. The architecture there is based on 16th century Colmar town, north east of Alsace, France, also incorporating architectural designs and elements from ancient surrounding villages of Riquewihr, Turckheim and Kaysersberg.
One of the Colmar Tropicale architecture on top of coffee cup, represent the place on a high ground and a town full of coffee. Simplify the building with line and try not to complicate, add bold shadow on left to make it stand out.
Slogan "feel the culture" represent the whole Colmar Tropicale full with coffee aroma but unforgettable vintage of the architecture.
Averia Sans Libre Bold font for logo and slogan. 10 colour for whole logo, follow the basic two colour which is yellow, brown, and add some shadow colour.
Second step: packaging
I make two type of coffee packaging which is black coffee and white coffee. Create two packages according to the logo colour to ensure the series are the same. The architectural style on the packaging is based on a certain building on Colmar Tropicale street. The material I used to make this packaging is simili paper 120gsm. The two photos are stickers used as the opening of the package.
Third step: Cup sleeve
The material I used to make cup sleeve is simili paper 100gsm and add a corrugated fiberboard below the paper. Create cup sleeve according to the logo colour and font to ensure the series are the same.
Fourth step: Coffee holder
The material I used to make coffee holder is matte art paper 200gsm. Create coffee holder according to the logo colour to ensure the series are the same. The design of this coffee holder is based on architectural characteristics of the Colmar Tropicale.
Final Product
